Endeavour, a Bermuda-registered charity, has released its 2024 Impact Report, celebrating a decade of empowering young people through experiential education and youth development.
Since its founding in 2015, Endeavour has positively impacted 7,824 young people – 802 of whom participated in its programmes between September 2023 and August 2024.
Endeavour is dedicated to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring youth of all backgrounds and abilities have opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. Endeavour’s programmes empower Bermuda’s youth to “learn by doing”, combining hands-on learning with sailing to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM), while also building self-confidence and essential life skills. Youth participants also explore Bermuda’s maritime heritage, gain environmental awareness, and are introduced to maritime career pathways.
As part of its commitment to continuous improvement and impact measurement, Endeavour engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Limited to assess the social outcomes of its programmes.
The 2024 Impact Report illustrates how Endeavour’s programmes align with its vision to nurture inspired, confident, and engaged youth with an appreciation for Bermuda’s waters and an excitement for learning and their future. The full report is available here.
Endeavour’s programmes include:
Cleveland Richardson, M1 Year Head & Social Studies Teacher at Whitney Institute Middle School, shared: “Endeavour is an awesome opportunity for our scholars to experience learning beyond the classroom. The programme raises all of their confidence levels…and they have become more independent.”
Heather Telford, mother of an Endeavour Assistant Instructor, shared: “Erin found her passion through Endeavour and loved it so much she became an Assistant Instructor. It’s been a great outlet for her personal growth, and I truly believe she’s a better person because of it. Endeavour has played a big role in making sailing more accessible for all kids in Bermuda, and the team at Endeavour always goes the extra mile to create a safe, welcoming space.”
Jibril Taylor, 2024 Springboard Graduate and Endeavour Programme Instructor Intern, said: “The training and qualifications I obtained during the Endeavour Maritime Springboard Programme are very beneficial. The maritime career days helped me learn about the different roles and opportunities in the maritime sector. I’m now working with Endeavour, applying what I’ve learned while continuing to grow.”
Endeavour’s programmes are offered at no cost to students, made possible through the generous support from donors including lead founding partner Orbis Investments, along with support from Arch Capital Group Ltd., PwC Bermuda, BF&M Ltd., L&F Indemnity Limited, Centennial Bermuda Foundation, Oakley Capital Investments, Everen Group, Chubb Charitable Foundation – Bermuda, Butterfield, Butterfield & Vallis, PartnerRe and the XL Foundation.
